The product is an easy install. Tech support not always avail by phone but did respond on email with precise instructions on how to get activation started. A must have no glitches and have used wifi without any problems.
While I don't disagree with any of the other reviews that complain about the high cost of data with this router (and they are crazy expensive), the Wifi extender option still makes this a must have for your camper. What makes this router great is that you don't need to have an LTE data plan to take advantage of the features of the router. It acts as a wifi extender which means you can connect it to a campground's wifi...or even better yet you can connect it to your iPhone's personal hotspot and use the data straight from your iPhone (I can't confirm if this works with Android phones, but I can't see why it wouldn't). Having owned a number of consumer grade extenders/routers, it's actually pretty rare for an extender to pick up an iPhone's personal hotspot and extend it. Most don't recognize the signal that the iPhone sends out, but this router definitely does. While you could certainly just use your hotspot from your phone to connect your various devices, however, if you know how an iPhone hotspot works you know that this is a giant pain. Rather than having to manually connect all of my kids devices and the TV to my iPhone hotspot every time we want to use them, I just need to connect the router to my iPhone once and most of the time the router automatically detects the iPhone hotspot and extends the internet through the wifi. Also the antenna on my camper makes it much easier to connect to a campground's wifi if its available and by having my own router I don't have to worry about security issues if I'm working off my laptop. Lastly, since I'm an AT&T customer and the data plans are through Verizon, I like the ability to have both options to get internet access even if the Verizon data plans are expensive because sometimes AT&T's data availability just stinks.
Regarding the firmware on this device, it actually has a number of advanced features like a firewall and MAC filtering that I was surprised to see. The user interface is extremely user friendly and easy to navigate.
I don't think the data plan prices should discourage anyone from purchasing this device because of the extender capabilities. The other reviews complaining about the data prices are justified, but they clearly have overlooked the usefulness of this device outside of the data plans and a one star review should just be ignored. While the price of the router might be a bit on the high side, given the features and the integration with the antenna, I think it's well worth the price.
I bought this for my pre-wired keystone RV that also came with the antenna on top. It works good to repeat a WiFi signal from the park you’re staying at but not more than that, signal strength is not very good.
Verizon data plans are way overpriced and wouldn’t really use it, I think you are better off by getting a hotspot package for your phone provider and then use it in your RV, buying data from Furrion / Verizon is ridiculously expensive.
Set up is extremely straight forward and not much to talk about, just connect to the network it creates and use the login/password information supplied, then you choose if you want to repeat a WiFi signal from nearby or if you want to use Verizon data. Simple
This was easy to install on my pre-wired 5th wheel. Took 10-seconds to install and about 10-minutes to log on to change default passwords, add the data plan, etc. The access web site allows you to monitor data usage. I do recommend this product.
